The project is part of Credit Suisse’s global-roll out of data centres to support the main business operating centres. This new data facility provides critical support to the main building facility in Canary Wharf.
Davis Langdon were appointed to carry out the Cost Management of the project.
Entailed the conversion of an existing warehouse facility of 13,900m² to provide ultimately six data halls each of 888m². Phase 1 of the works was to provide three data halls or 2,664m² of technical space and associated office and ancillary facilities together with reception, security room, IT build rooms and loading bay.
The design was to a Tier 3 / 4 uptime institute classification at a power loading of 1,000W/m² with dual resilient paths for both electrical and mechanical systems.
Generators and Air Cooled Chillers are sited externally with Transformers, Switchgear and UPS systems located in newly constructed plant area extended to the existing building. A new mezzanine floor was also constructed to accommodate some of the UPS batteries. All systems were given thorough Integrated Systems Tests and Black building Tests to ensure the resilience level was achieved.
The Phase 1 programme required the first three data halls to be ready for IT fit out by 2nd Qtr 2006.
The Phase 1 technical space raised floor area were duly completed and handed over for IT fit out 1st Qtr 2006.
