The Four Seasons Canary Wharf forms the centrepiece of the Phase 1 Canary Riverside development.
The development was suffering difficulties and was significantly behind programme when the client removed the hotel from the incumbent team and appointed Davis Langdon to assist in delivering the hotel before the new millennium.
The project comprised the construction of a 143 key hotel, with business centre, meeting rooms, ballroom, restaurant and support areas. The project was designed and constructed in 69 weeks.
Our work included the management of the procurement of the furniture fittings and equipment along with the operator’s supplies and equipment. The complexity of the project was increased as the works were carried out on an island site within the context of another contractor’s demise. Our project management duties were extended to the management of the interface between the two contractors.
Importantly for the client, the project was delivered on budget, on time and opened for the millennium celebrations.
We worked with the client to create a project environment in which the whole project team could work co-operatively and proactively.
The team used prefabrication techniques, never previously used in five star hotel construction in the UK, to achieve the client’s goals.
