The project is a key part of the College’s redevelopment masterplan and its creation allows all Faculty services to be combined in a single location and enables a number of existing spaces to be refurbished and redeveloped.

The project comprises the creation of a new four storey Faculty Building built in an existing courtyard and including a home for the South Kensington campus CHP plant. It is an integral part of the masterplan for the South Kensington campus.
The project was developed by the same team that developed the Tanaka Business School and the Main Contract was negotiated with ISG Interior/Exterior and upon agreement of a GMP the Design Team were novated. The project was completed on time and within budget.
To reduce the solar gain to the building and to help the building meet the requirements of Part L, the blue facades were developed as a cost effect way of meeting the College’s requirements. The building was constructed around the existing CHP plant.
The project incorporates a ramp that passes through the building and that links two previously un-accessible parts of the campus and creates a new main access route.
The project was completed in June 2004 and represented the halfway point of the redevelopment of Dalby Court (the Institute of Bioengineering is included in the next phase).
The building provides very successful open plan space and replaces very cellular spaces.
The building has won a number of design awards including RIBA and BCO.
